Rene John Thoulion Sr.

Rene J. “Snake” Thoulion, Sr., age 79, entered eternal rest on Thursday, November 3, 2016, in Harvey, LA. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA for the past four years. After Hurricane Katrina, he resided in St. Martinville, LA. Prior to the storm, he was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 43 years. Mr. Thoulion is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan M. Alfonso Thoulion; sons Rene J., Jr. (Alejandro), Robert J. (Elizabeth), Rodney J. (RJ); grandchildren Jennifer L. Shire, Robert J., Jr., Cecilia M. Fruge (Bobby), Lindsay A. Sevin, Ariell M. Johnson (Vaughn), and Brad Sevin; great grandsons Kody L. Thoulion and Mikey Oatis; brother-in-law Frank E. Alfonso (Betty) and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Gina M. Sevin (Val), parents Louis J. and Jeanne E. Schmitt Thoulion, and siblings Marie Colombo, Shirley (infant), and Louis H. Thoulion. Mr. Thoulion was retired from Mobil Oil (Tenneco) Refinery in Chalmette, LA where he served as Secretary Treasurer of OCAW Union Local 4-522 and was a former member of Elks Lodge 2321, the Knights of Columbus, and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Violet, LA. Visitation will be on Friday, November 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2621 Colonial Blvd. in Violet, LA. A mass of Christian burial will follow with interment at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens in Chalmette, LA.
