Captain Ray Joseph Main, born on his father’s birthday of August 10, 1942, died September 20, 2016. Ray has joined his beloved wife, Judy Fortado Main. Ray and Judy were high school sweethearts and were married for 51 years. They have three children, Trudy (Mark), Ryan (Patricia), and Brad Main, and four grandchildren, Aiden, Julia, Laura, and Leah, who will miss their devoted Granny and PawPaw. Ray is the son of the late Joseph Oliver Main and the late Arthemise Mevers Main. He is survived by two sisters, Gayle Main Points of Kenner, Louisiana and Lynn Main Ben-Ami of Dallas, Texas. Shortly after Ray and Judy married, he joined the Navy. Upon leaving the Navy, Ray had jobs which proved to be apprenticeships to starting his own business. He and his father built a building on David Drive and from it Ray and Judy ran a successful family owned and operated security business, Main Electronics, for 35 years. When they sold the business, Ray was able to spend more time enjoying his love of boating and fishing. He obtained a Charter Boat Captain’s license and began a Charter business. He also was private pilot to the owner of a 44 foot yacht. At age 71, Ray purchased a motorcycle and joined a veteran’s motorcycle club. Although limited by his illness, up until 2 days before his death Ray was making plans for his latest project with his children. He was a tireless worker and had a positive impact on his children and his many friends and acquaintances. Ray can finally rest knowing he has truly met God’s test to achieve all in life from the gifts God has bestowed upon him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 6 PM at 156 Andrea St., River Ridge, LA 70123. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
