Ray Joseph Bonvillain, 85, passed away on March 25, 2018. He is the son of the late Verna Rome Bonvillain of Smoke Bend, LA and Lawrence Joseph Bonvillain, Paincourtville, LA. He is the brother of the late Valerie Bonvillain Bovia.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Burks Bonvillain and his children Monique Bonvillain Hart (Danny) and Keenan W. Bonvillain (Christi). He was the proud Papaw of Timothy, Jennifer, and Jonathan Hart and Brandon Bonvillain. He is survived by his niece, Susan Bovia Doell and nephew, Herbert Bovia and their families.
Bonvillain spent his career as a master carpenter. He was a member of the Carpenter’s and Pile driver’s Local Union 1846 for over 60 years. His hobbies included woodworking and was an avid fisherman. He was a U.S. Marine who served in Korea as an Amphibious Tractor Operator in the 3D Am Trac Bn, FMF, Camp Pendleton, CA. He was extremely proud to be a Marine and serve his country.
Interment will be private. Arrangements entrusted to the Neptune Society of New Orleans.
