Peggy Jean Acy

Peggy Jean McGinty Acy passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Ormond Nursing Rehabilitation Center at the side of beloved husband Allen Lee Acy, Sr and her daughter Shawn Acy Dufrene holding hands.

She was born December 25, 1933 in Melville, LA and grew up in the Irish Channel, New Orleans, LA. She was a long-time resident of Terrytown, LA and she was also a member of the DISC (the Dupont Improvement and Social Club). She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Destrehan, LA. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Allen Lee Acy Sr. She is the beloved daughter of the late Fay Quinlan McGinty and the late George McGinty. She is the sister of the late Jerry McGinty, G.W. McGinty and Preston McGinty. She was the mother of the late Allen Lee Acy, Jr (Jolene), the late Steven “Stevie” Bryant Acy, Sr. and Shawn Acy Dufrene (Duane). She is the Grandmother of Steven “Stevie” Bryant Acy, Jr. (Brandi Shelley), Cody E Landry, Jeanne Denning, Madison F Landry, and Ava C. Dufrene. She is the Great Grandmother of Brynlee E. Acy, and Nolan Patrick Berry

Peggy Acy was much beloved and will be missed by all her family, friends, church group and her neighborhood group. We would like to thank St. Catherine’s Hospice for their support during this difficult time.

Services will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and a service at 2:00 pm at The United Methodist Church in Destrehan, LA., 1905 Ormond Blvd. Destrehan, LA. 70047.
