Paul Sebastian Graffeo, age 83, of New Orleans, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2017. He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Judith Goodman Graffeo. Devoted father of Deborah Graffeo Sweet (Gregory), grandfather of Danielle Nicole Sweet, brother of Peter Graffeo, Sr., and uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Piazza Graffeo, and his sister, Rita Graffeo Chimento. Paul was the owner and President of Professional Security Training, Inc. since 1985, registered as a security officer instructor with the Louisiana Board of Education. He was the Vice-Chairman of the Louisiana State Board of Private Security Examiners (LSBPSE) from 1997-2001, a Board member of the World Trade Center from 2006-2013, Chief of Security for the Allstate Sugar Bowl from 1960-1992, advisor to the New Orleans Police Foundation, President of the Chapel Hill Bay St. Louis Condo Association, Float Lieutenant and Board Member of the carnival Krewe of Orpheus and President and Float Lieutenant of the Krewe of Halloween. Paul retired from the New Orleans Police Department having served more than 29 years. He completed Tulane University’s Criminal Justice Program and went on to earn his degree in Business Administration. During his tenure with the NOPD, he taught Criminal Justice at the New Orleans Police Academy, Loyola University, Tulane University, and Nicholls State University. Paul also started Crime Analysis at the New Orleans Police Department and travelled throughout the United States to educate people on the benefits and application of Crime Analysis for the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). Paul was an extraordinary man. Even in the face of adversity, he celebrated his life with dignity and selflessness. His love for his family and friends will provide for a lifetime of inspiration and joy to all that knew him. He will be remembered in our hearts forever. Interment and a celebration of his life will be private at a later date.
