Nicholas left his earthly life for his eternal life at the age of 87 on March 18, 2025. He was born September 19, 1936, to the late Ann Landry Bergeron and Wilmer Joseph Bergeron. Jesus and our mother, Edith, came and took him home. He has been heartbroken since she passed in February. Our mother couldn’t be in Heaven without him, he couldn’t be here without her. He left peacefully in his sleep at his home.
Nicholas is survived by his children Nicky Bergeron (Pamela), Victor Bergeron (Gina), and Tiffaney Bergeron; his grandchildren: Olivia Candies (Dillan), Victoria Usey (Mark), Ashleigh Davis (Logan), and Alexandra Ibieta; his great-grandchildren: Presley, Palmer, Charley and Chandler; brothers-in-law Sammy R. Zito and C. Mack Zito and sister-in-law Patricia Zito Schexnayder (Don). He has numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Nicholas is preceded in death by wife of 66 years, Edith Zito Bergeron; his siblings, Wilma Spiers (Gerald), Sandra Heirsch (Alvin, Sr.); father-in-law Sam Zito (Ruby); sisters-in-law, Laura “Midge” Zito, Sue Zito, and nephew Sam “Frog” Zito.
Nicholas was born in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from Redemptorist High School. He married Edith on September 18, 1959, in New Orleans, LA where they resided. Nicholas started his working career as a pipe fitter and the latter part of his career he became an electrical instrument technician. He worked hard to provide for his family and was a wonderful mentor to his children. Though he was strong, he was kind, sweet and the most laid-back man who loved everyone. His family traditions were donuts on Saturdays, and he would make pancakes on Sundays. He loved fishing, golfing, walking to the lake hitting golf balls and visiting neighbors on the way back. He also loved to dance. He was a do-it-yourself, get it done kind of man, of course with Edith’s supervision.
He is a believer in Jesus and wore his key to heaven every day. One day he was asked ‘’what is that neckless?’’ His reply was, ‘’that’s my key to heaven.’’ After speaking more with him, it would be apparent that his belief in Jesus was the truth, the (way), and the life (John 14:6). Rest assure he is with Edith in Heaven, and they are once again together. To be absent from the body to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6) Edith is probably telling him how to do thing in heaven.
Nicholas’ loss is deeply felt by his family and all those who knew and loved him. Also, a special thank you to his daughter Tiffaney for taking such great care of him. Nicholas’ wishes were to be honored by his immediate family having a celebration of life ceremony.
