Myrtle Oalmann Miller

Myrtle Katie Oalmann Miller entered into the kingdom of heaven on Friday, March 31, 2023 at her home at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years Wilden (Wiley) , her parents Louis Martin and Myrtle Katie Moinet Oalmann, and her siblings Frances (Sally) Breland and Clyde Oalmann. Myrtle was born in New Orleans and resided in St. Bernard Parish for many years before relocating to Kenner after Hurricane Katrina. She was the loving mother of Allison Ott (David), Pam Hanson (Karl) and Ward Miller (Brandi). She had 7 grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Zachary Ott (Lesley), Jacob Ott (Macy), Matthew Ott (Lindsay), Kelsey Hanson (Lachlan McQueen), Erik Hanson (Madeline), Kirk Hanson, and Bronx Sansone. Myrtle had 7 great grandchildren: Eli, Carson, Caroline,Joseph, Brody,Taysom, and Charlotte. Myrtle also loved Nick Ott (Leana) and their children Kallie, Taylor and Abby Ott like they were her own grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Myrtle graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School. She enjoyed working as a substitute teacher in St. Bernard parish for many years. Family was what was most important in Myrtle’s life and she will be missed by all who were touched by her.

Relatives, friends of Myrtle and friends of the family are invited in celebrating her life on Saturday, April 15th at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, 6017 Camphor Street, Metairie, La. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM with a service beginning at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital which Myrtle liked to call “Marlo’s hospital”.
