Murray proudly served in the United States Army before continuing his commitment to public service through a distinguished career with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office. Over the course of his service, he rose through the ranks, serving as both Lieutenant and Chief of Narcotics. He was deeply respected for his dedication to protecting others, his strong work ethic, and the leadership he demonstrated to those who served alongside him.
Following his retirement from law enforcement, Murray embraced a role he cherished just as deeply—supporting the love of his life, Robin Guidry Franks. Married for 34 years, Murray and Robin built a life grounded in love, partnership, and unwavering devotion. Whether assisting with her real estate business, handling maintenance projects, or simply stepping in wherever he was needed, Murray found his greatest joy in staying busy and helping others. His willingness to work hard and support those he loved never wavered.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Murray Franks and Helen Bingham Franks; his brother, Jerry Wayne Franks; his mother-in-law, Lorraine Mae Guidry; his sister-in-law, Robyn Ellis Guidry; and his brother-in-law, James Dillion.
Murray is survived by his beloved wife, Robin Guidry Franks; his children, Tony Franks, Tracy Franks, and Christopher Franks; his sister, Patricia Bannister; his brother-in-law, Scott Guidry; and his sisters-in-law, Ginger Guidry and Tiffany Guidry (Joe). He is also survived by his nieces, Tera’ Marks (Andre), Carley Guidry Ladner (Bradley), Nicole Guidry (Ryan), and Abigail Guidry, and his nephew, Logan Guidry.
He was a proud grandfather to Damien Franks, Kaegen Franks, Brandon Franks, Chase Sealls, Liam Sealls, and Tristan Murray Sealls. His grandchildren were a constant source of pride and joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the countless lives he touched will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Murray’s memory by helping others in your community, just as he always did, or by making a donation to a veterans’ or law enforcement–related charity of your choice.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, no public service will be held at this time.
