Mollie Valence Pierce, a native and a resident of Westwego, LA entered Heaven at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018. She was the only daughter born, August 8, 1934 to Clara Galiano and Joseph Valence (deceased). Her only sibling is her beloved brother Charles Valence. Mollie was married 63 years to Jerry Joseph Pierce (deceased). Mollie had a daughter Cay Ann Pierce Rodriguez (deceased). She is survived by her children, Bonnie Pierce Dufrene (Rudy), Craig A. Pierce, Sr. (Stephanie), Todd A. Pierce (Teresa) and Roger Rodriguez (Julie). Maw Mollie is survived by her grandchildren Meredith Cay Lagasse (Billy), Craig Anthony Pierce, Jr. (Dorsey), Brad Andrew Dufrene, Courtney Cay Pierce, Candis Cay Pierce, Hannah Jolynn Pierce, Leigh Ann Benesch (Matt), Julie Ann Williamson (Scott) and Ryan Rodriguez. Maw Maw Mollie is also survived by her great-grandchildren Pierce Gregrey Liberta, Alex Joseph Lagasse, Jordan Cay Lagasse, Oden Anthony Pierce, Jude Lynn Pierce, Caylyn Ann Ritter, Cayleigh Pamela Ritter, Vivian Cay Pierce, Ethan Benesch, Heidi Benesch, Lilliana Benesch, Everett Williamson, Emmett Williamson and Ellis Williamson. Mollie was the sister in law to Shirley Valence, Joyce P. Creppel and Judy P. Constant. She was beloved “Aunt Mollie” to many.
Mollie always proclaimed she was a fisherman’s daughter. With a light in her face, she told of her love of Grand Isle and her youth helping her daddy. Mollie was a great cook and hospitable homemaker to all who entered her home. Coffee was always brewing and a fresh can of crackers with butter were on the table. She drove a school bus, owned a catering business, owned horse stables and was the chauffer to many along the way. Mollie had a special devotion to St. Joseph and hosted many St. Joseph’s Altars with great grace and thanks for the health of her husband and family. She was loved and will be sadly missed.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 146 Fourth Street, Westwego, LA on Saturday, April 7, 2018. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by a eulogy at 11:15 a.m. and Memorial Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at OLPS cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mollie’s memory can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The family would like to express their gratitude to Ameracare Family Hospice, especially Marilyn, Kimberly, Claudia, Jennifer, Casey and Lonnie.
