Milton Montery Lange

June 23, 1938 – February 24, 2023
Obituary of Milton Montery Lange
Milton M. Lange, Sr, 84, of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away unexpectedly, but quietly, at Lafayette General Hospital on the evening of February 24, 2023, with family by his side.

Milton was born on June 23, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to John Lange and Lilly Durkes-Lange. Milton attended Warren Easton High School in 1953. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy. Upon returning home from the Navy he flourished as a Marine Chief Engineer sailing on the Mississippi River until his retirement. Milton also was an active member of the William D. White Masonic Lodge located in Gretna, Louisiana. Milton was also a member of Heritage Bible Church located in Terrytown, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jack Murley. Milton is survived by his loving wife of 59 years and true love Shirley Elizabeth Dunn Lange. He is also survived by his children Monty Ledet AKA Milton Lange, Jr, Troy M. Lange (Wife Shari LeBlanc Lange), and his doting daughter Rhonda Lange. He “found hope in the future” with his two granddaughters Alexis Ann Lange and Shayla Elizabeth Lange.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests spending some quality time with your loved ones in his memory. If you would like to send words of encouragement to the family, please email them at [email protected]. Milton will be laid to rest at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana.

His heart of this world may have failed but his spirit was stubbornly strong:

When peace, like a river attendeth my way

When sorrow like sea billows roll;

Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,

It is well, it is well, with my soul.
