Michael "Mike" Frederick Mashburn

Michael “Mike” Frederick Mashburn passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the age of 71. He grew up in Hammond, LA and resided in Covington, LA. Mike was predeceased by his loving parents, Jack Mashburn and Sadie Pugh Mashburn, and his brother, Pat Mashburn. Mike leaves behind the love of his life of 38 years, Gwendolyn Held Mashburn, his precious daughters, Dresden and Kelly, grandson, Elliott, and father-in-law, Junior Held. He is survived by sisters, Helen Penton (Bill) and Rita Mashburn, brothers, John Mashburn, Don Mashburn (Carol), Tim Mashburn, Bill Mashburn, Richard Mashburn (Denise), sister-in-law, Elleen Mashburn, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike attended Holy Ghost School in Hammond, LA, Saint Stanislaus High School in Bay St. Louis, MS, and Southeastern Louisiana University. Mike served in the U.S. Army Reserves in the 433rd M.P. Company. While in basic training, he was selected as “Trainee of the Cycle.” Mike owned and operated Cardio Vascular Health Consultants. Earlier, he owned and operated Frenchy’s New Orleans Po-Boys. Mike was an associate of the Lincoln National Life Insurance Company and I.D.S. He founded PFS, Professional Sports Fitness Society, and was a founding member of the Professional Football Society. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 9 AM at St. Joseph’s Abbey, 75376 River Rd., Saint Benedict, LA 70457. Respectfully, the family has requested memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
