He was preceded in death by his parents Mike and Idyl Gillette, his Brother Larry Toladano, his Sister Idyl Davenport, and Nephew Joseph Falgout.
He is survived by his wife Elsie, 2 daughters Angela (James) and Barbara (Byron), and step-son Joey (Leigh), 5 grandchildren Dylisia, Carol-lynn, Toni, Jacob, and Jordan, 8 great grandchildren Khalil, Khari, Kahnle, Xule, Grayson, Kaiden, Ja'vry, and Ja'vah, his brother Jerry (Regina), his uncle David, and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He attended Bradley Elementary, Colton Jr. High and Nichols High schools before joining the Navy then studying at Leavell College at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned an Associates of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry.
Michael worked at Avondale, K&B drug store, Schwegmanns grocery store, PJ McMann funeral home, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Elysian Fields Avenue Baptist Church, Chef Storage, and Pontchartrain Oaks Apartments.
He was actively involved in Church where he was a Deacon, taught RAs and Sunday School, and sung in the choir.
He loved golf, gardening, camping, model trains and pirate ships, and telling Boudreaux and Thibodaux stories.
The family would like to thank Heritage Manor of Slidell, St. Catherine's Hospice, and Neptune Society for the care and compassion they showed him in his final days.
