Though Mason’s life was far too short, he managed to pack in a lifetime of experiences. Whether it was his love for music, gaming, late-night talks, or his undying passion for attempting the impossible, he never did anything halfway. Mason approached life with a sense of humor that could only be described as a walking internet meme – always armed with an endless supply of dad jokes and unsolicited movie quotes. He was fiercely independent, except when it came to his phone charger, which was always missing. He lived with an energy that left an impression wherever he went.
Mason was born on March 19, 1995, in Gretna, Louisiana. His childhood was spent in Lake Charles attending College Oaks Elementary School and Oak Park United Methodist Church. He returned to the Westbank finishing school at West Jefferson High School. His love for the city of New Orleans led him to choose it as his permanent home.
Mason is survived by his father, Wade Stewart, Jr. (Missy); his siblings, who will forever miss his bad puns, Morgan, Kimberly, Tabitha (David), his “little dudes” Ashton and Max; and his grandparents, Wade Stewart (Pat) and Joan Stiglets. He is also survived by a nephew, nieces, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and an extended family who will cherish the laughter he brought into their lives.
Mason is preceded in death by his mother, Tracy Melancon; his grandmothers, Terry Stewart and Linda Melton; his grandfathers, Patrick Melancon and Richard Price; and his brother-in-law Gavin Marcel.
A funeral Mass will be held in the Chapel at Christ Episcopal Church in Covington on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to join us in the church hall, located next to the chapel, following the service to celebrate Mason’s life.
