Beloved wife of 49 years to her late husband, Eugene F Hunter. Mary is survived by her son Thomas Hunter of Holbrook, NY and granddaughter Sophia Kiekens, of Port Richey, FL Also survived by her sister Anne Winkelmeyer(Herbert) of Aquebogue, NY. She will be greatly missed by Anne’s children (Mark, Judy, Sarah and Paul) and her her dear life-long, friend Sally Moeller, as well as her long-term caregiver Leigh Granier.
Mary was the daughter of Joseph and Margaret(Conway) Lockwood of Seacliff, NY. She was preceded in death by her brother Cornelius(Alberta) Lockwood and sister Joan(Alan) Stoddard and her dear aunt Alice Lockwood.
Mary worked for many years in the offices of the Great Neck School System and at the jewelry department at JCPenny of Garden City. Mary loved being a mom to Thomas and grandma to Sophia. She was easy-going, sweet, kind and loved to laugh and joke. She loved card games And rummy cube. She loved all animals and they loved her back. She had many fortunate fur babies including Melvin, Muffin and Maggie.
Mary and Gene lived together for many years in Carle Place, NY and Ocala, Fl. She spent her final years in New Orleans near her niece and goddaughter Sarah Holt.
Private memorial services and interment at St Patrick’s Cemetery in Upper Brookville, NY.
