Marie Schuster Nix

Marie Frances Schuster Nix, died on July 21, 2016 at Sunrise of Metairie Senior Living in Metairie, LA. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Gilbert Nix, M.D., the loving mother of Marie Shelley Matus (Jose Orlando), Melodia Barker Nix (Orris J. Wagnild), Lynne Marie Nix, Ruth Aleman Nix, the late Frank G. Nix Jr., and the late Stephen Donald Nix (Virginia); the grandmother of Nicole Matus Danjean, Jose Orlando “Pep” Matus, Francisco Miguel Matus, Melodia Matus York, Shelley David Hebert, Mollie Hebert Smith and Madelyn Hebert Hunter. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren. She was born the daughter of James Thomas Shelley Schuster and Marie Frances Isert Schuster on 27 October, 1919. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Louise Schuster Rusovich and her nephews, John B. Rusovich, Mark S. Rusovich and Gregory R. Rusovich. Marie was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed travel and said she could be ready in an hour for a 6 week trip to anywhere. She loved books, cats, dogs, Scrabble, crosswords, and stitched beautiful needlepoint. Marie’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the caregivers at Sunrise of Metairie and Heart of Hospice for their special care of our mother. A private service will be held at a later date.
