Lydia Teivans Carruthers passed away on November 19, 2016 after a long illness. Lidja, as she was known, was preceded in death by husband, Carlton Kent Carruthers, to whom she was married for 35 years; parents, Wilhelmina and Ludvigs Teivans; and brother, Leons Teivans. Survived by sisters, Regina T. Schommer and Irene T. Caronna; and step-daughter, Mary Ann Lotz of San Antonio, Texas. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in Daugavpils, Latvia. Attended schools in Europe and graduated from Redemptorist HS in New Orleans. She was an amateur artist and interior designer. She was a member of Fashion Mannequins of New Orleans and modeled for many stores in New Orleans in the sixties and seventies. Will be dearly missed by family and friends. Honoring her wishes, Lidja was cremated and no services will be held.
