Louise Ann Conyers Grubb passed away peacefully in her home on June 17th, 2017 in Metairie, Louisiana at the age of 91. Louise, formerly of Shreveport, Louisiana was born in Marion, Kansas in 1926 and graduated from Wesley School of Nursing and was a member of the cadet corps in Wichita, Kansas in 1946. She worked as a nurse in the operating room at Highland Hospital for several years before transferring to the Veteran’s Administration Hospital where she retired after 20 years of service. Beloved wife of Daniel Reuben Grubb (who preceded her in death in 2001) for over fifty years. She was the loving mother of Daniel Robert Grubb (who preceded her in death in 1991), Cynthia Grubb Frisard, Thomas Grubb (Wendy Begg), and Mark Grubb (Nancy). She was a doting grandmother to Amanda Osborne (Daniel), Tara Sosa (Chris), Patrick Grubb (Kate), Meredith Frye (Richard), William Grubb, Laura Grubb, and Elizabeth Grubb. Great grandmother to Elise, Naomi, and Jude Osborne, Blake, Evan, Wyatt and Asher Sosa, and Ava Grubb. She was member of the UMW at Broadmoor United Methodist Church and St. Matthews United Methodist Church. She was very active in the church, supervising the making of Christmas ornaments by hand at Broadmoor, and received multiple awards for her service on mission trips. She enjoyed her retirement by volunteering at Highland Hospital, playing bridge, being a member of the Red Hatters and Gardening club in Shreveport and spoiling her grandchildren. She loved gardening in her large backyard, sewing, crocheting, knitting and quilting. She loved to cook and bake and always welcomed new neighbors with a fresh baked pie. Her friends and family each had a favorite dish, which was always waiting when they visited. She enjoyed playing Rummikub, and passed along her love by teaching her grandchildren to play. Most of all, she enjoyed the act of giving, whether that be gifts, handmade quilts, or hugs and kisses. She was a Christian first and foremost, and her love of God was always present in her actions and deeds. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Larry and Patty Trudell, Liz Reardon, and Linda Doyle for their care and support of Louise throughout the twilight of her wonderful life. A memorial service will be held at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 6017 Camphor Street, Metairie, Louisiana on Wednesday, June 28th, at 7:00pm. A private burial will take place in Marion, Kansas this fall.
