

She was born on April 13, 1949 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but was a lifelong resident of River Ridge, Louisiana.
Linda graduated from Loyola University, College of Music in 1971. She taught piano at Werlein’s Music School after she graduated from Loyola, but spent most of her adult career working with special needs children in Jefferson Parish.
Linda is survived by her husband Paul Jerry Benfield; her children Angelle Carpenter (Matt), Benjamin Benfield, and Sherry Benfield; her grandchildren Mac and Kaleb; her sisters Diane Schilleci (Frank), Gertrude Krogsgard (Keith), Emily Jowett, Rosemarie Langland (Michael), and Christina Benfield (Johnny). Linda is predeceased by her parents, Edward Holmberg and Rosemary Zinser Holmberg, and her brother, Edward Holmberg III.
Linda was a devoted wife and mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and coworker. She was a kind and generous soul who put the needs of others above her own. She had tremendous compassion and empathy for all animals and loved her little dog Smittie. She was fun loving and could brighten a room with her smile and laughter.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Francis Villa in River Ridge, Louisiana for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days. Linda was also cared for by her devoted husband who attended to her care and needs everyday while she resided at St. Francis Villa.
Linda will be laid to rest at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in St. Rose, Louisiana. Information about her burial and Celebration of Life will be provided to all Family and Friends at a later date.
