Leonce Joseph Malus III

He was the beloved husband of Donna O’Donohue Malus for forty-nine years.

He was the loving father of Lauren Malus Hernandez and her husband, Jonathan, of Metairie, Louisiana, and Julian Leonce Malus and his wife, Marcela, of New Orleans, Louisiana.

He was the proud grandfather of Jackson Elliot Hernandez, Finn Jude Hernandez, and Emerson Lee Hernandez.

He was the son of Marjorie Malus and Leonce Joseph Malus Jr., known as “Lee.”

He was the brother of Earl Malus and his wife, Rebecca, of Mobile, Alabama, and Heidi Malus of Slidell, Louisiana.

He is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

Skip was a 1969 graduate of Chalmette High School and graduated with honors from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. He received his Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University in 1976 and was admitted to the Louisiana Bar that same year.

Skip loved classical music, playing the guitar, reading, food, and everything about cooking. He found joy in sharing recipes, meals, stories, books, music, and conversations with the people he loved most. Wise, calm, respectful, and deeply knowledgeable, Skip had a gentle presence that made his family feel loved and cared for.

He was a true gentleman, the best husband and father, and an irreplaceable part of his family’s lives. His grandchildren, who knew him as “Pa Pere,” will forever remember his jokes, his guitar playing, his interesting movies, and the special way he made ordinary moments meaningful.

He will be remembered for his intelligence, quiet humor, deep love of family, and the joy he brought to those who loved him. He was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
