The family would like to thank the New Orleans Veterans’ Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Larry in his final days.
"Larry Jene Price was born in West Virginia in July of 1942 on his own mother’s birthday. He grew up in the town of Clendenin on the Elk River. His little kid years were spent with his grandmother, Maude Lyons, who cared for him in the way that my grandmother cared for me; we share that distinction. He loved his family and as he aged, the more he saw the gift in their presence and memory. He met my mother in Salem, Illinois, where upon seeing her walk across the street, he wrecked his car - no doubt the origin of that romcom trope. He fought in Korea, rode motorcycles in Pattaya Beach in Thailand, ran a disco in Tehran, Iran, and skied the Alps in Bavaria when he lived in Garmisch. And finally he came to live in his beloved Mexico, where he spent thirty three years. He created a life and extended family there, and it was to Mexico that his mind returned when he was feeling out of sorts, content in the embracing memory of his Mexican family. He lived a big, loud life, a source of endless colorful stories which he liked to tell over a martini and his grill. He possessed an exacting sense of justice, applied with rigor to the world, if not always to himself. He took up the room; always the center while the rest of us simply revolved around the sun that was Larry Price. He was a charmer and friend to many. Toward the end, his generosity, and forgiveness of those trespasses against him was commendable, and it is highly likely that he did more good than bad in this life." - Writing by John Price, Larry's son.
