Larry James Banquer, Jr. age 38 was called home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to his eternal rest on April 1, 2017. He was a very loving and caring person and will be missed dearly. He was born in Metairie, LA on September 6, 1978 and lived in Westwego, LA where he attended Our Lady of Prompt Succor Elementary School. At the age of 12 he moved with his family to Biloxi, MS and attended Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School and was a 1997 graduate of Mercy Cross High School. He then joined the MS Air National Guard, completing USAF Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. He also worked at various construction jobs. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Cates-Banquer, he was the beloved son of Judy Melanson (Charles “Papa Charles”) Heard and Larry Sr. (Stephanie) Banquer, his loving sisters Erica Banquer (Robert) Gnapp, Lanie Banquer Bryant, Meredith “Missy” Ward (Alton) Humphrey and Bethany Heard (Lane) Nations. He was cherished by his maternal grandparents Douglas, Sr. and Sylvia Melanson and paternal grandparents Israel P. (Tookie) and Cleo Banquer. His Godparents, Douglas, Jr. “Paran” (Olite) Melanson, and Patricia “Nannie” (Pete, Jr.) Rosenbohm. He was also loved and will be deeply missed by his Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. He also leaves behind his in-laws Linda (Bruce) Anderson and the late Mr. David Cates. He loved fishing, and watching his favorite sports teams to include: New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers, and Atlanta Braves. We will all miss his big smile. He will forevermore be in our thoughts and in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at River Church, 2418 West Bank Expressway Harvey, LA. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. for family and friends. Service will begin at noon with Pastors Robert and Kathy Storey officiating. Interment will follow the service at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum on Avenue A in Westwego, LA.
