Kathleen "Kaye" Cornay, 80, of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on August 13, 2023, in Kenner, Louisiana surrounded by family and friends. She was born on November 28, 1942, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Helen Magreevy Claassen and Benjamin J. Claassen Sr. Kaye was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She had a vibrant personality, a great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life no matter the challenge. Whatever the circumstances you could always count on her to bring a smile to your face. She had a keen eye for decorating and her love for houses and interior design was evident in her own home. She was able to turn her love for houses into a successful career as a real estate agent. After many years as a real estate agent helping people find their dream homes she transitioned to furniture sales where she could help people realize the visions they had for their homes. Kaye's faith was an important part of her life and some of her happiest times were spent at Williams Boulevard Baptist Church where she enjoyed the love and fellowship of her church family. Kaye enjoyed traveling and her favorite vacation spots were Florida, New York and California. She also enjoyed attending concerts and the theater with her friends, going to luncheons and planning vacations.
A memorial service to celebrate Kaye's life will be held at Williams Boulevard Baptist Church, located at 3000 Williams Boulevard in Kenner, Louisiana on November 11, 2023. The viewing is 9:00 a.m., service at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Yorkie and Small Dog Rescue.
Kaye is survived by her daughter Shannon Cornay Claudio, grandson Jackson Claudio, son-in-law John Claudio, brother Ben J. Claassen Jr., sister-in-law Kathy Claassen, and a host of other family members and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
