He was born on May 19, 1942 in Pressburg, Hungary. He grew up through his primary school years in Linz, Austria before immigrating to the United States and settling in New York.
He graduated from Croton Harmon High School in 1960 where he was then drafted. He served his country from 1963-1970 in the U.S Army where he received a Purple Heart.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Vietnam Veterans of America.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Franz Takacs and Emelia Juron Takacs, brothers, Franz , Ludwig, and Josef Takacs, and sister, Anna Hager.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anh Tuyet Takacs of Gretna, LA , daughter, Carolyn Takacs-Snell and her husband Wayne K. Snell Jr. of Frisco, TX, son, Karl K. Takacs Jr. and his wife Laura Hebert Takacs of New Orleans, LA, loving grandchildren, Hana Lei Snell and J. Foster Jones, Alaia Nova Snell, and Clea Luna Snell, a sister, Helene Gaudiner of Wappinger Falls, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Father Michael Nam Nguyen, Compassus-Mrs. Gayle Polite and staff, and family and friends for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life mass at Christ the King Church on October 7, 2023 at 11:00 am. A Military Tribute to follow.
