Kalib Rand Kelley

Born on July 18, 1963, in Lakeland, FL, to Nancy Witka and Jack Kelley Sr., Kalib was the youngest of three children. He grew up with Chuck and Sherry who always claimed he was spoiled rotten because he was the baby.

He graduated from Plant City High School in FL. Two years later he married his high school sweetheart, Julie. Over the years he worked internationally in construction before transitioning to maintenance in the mid 90’s to be closer to family as his daughters, Jessi and Kelsey, grew up. His health forced him into retirement in June of 2024, from Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.

Kalib was known for always being willing to help if you were in need. His dad’s jokes were terrible. He usually had a project in the barn, but beware: he was often cussing that project in the process. As a young hellion he raced dirt bikes on flat track. In fact, when he and Julie were first introduced by Mike Cannon, he was still on crutches after breaking both femurs in a wreck. In 2020, the whole family got into riding cruisers. Ask about him strapping his oxygen tank to his bike to take a ride while he was left unsupervised in February.

Throughout his life he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed four-wheeler riding, riding horses, hunting, fishing, and hiking. He even jumped out of a plane once. Though he may have been happiest with a white russian by a campfire surrounded by family and friends.

Kalib is predeceased by his father, Jack Sr; mother, Nancy; and sister, Sherry. He leaves behind his wife, Julie; daughters, Jessi (Venn) and Kelsey (Ian); brother, Chuck (Rog); adopted kids, Brandy and David; and many more.

Celebration of Life for Kalib Kelley, Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 12pm to 3pm, L.M. Lockhart Community Center, 320 MLK Jr. Dr., Denham Springs, LA 70726.

Eulogy to begin at 12:30, followed by food and friendship. Motorcycles and bright colors encouraged. No alcohol permitted at the community center.
