June Martin Newsham of Kenner, LA passed away peacefully on Christmas morning, December 25, 2017, at the age of 91. June was born in Metairie, LA and resided in Jefferson Parish her entire life. She worked at the Port of New Orleans in personnel and the human resources department for 33 years, from 1964 until she retired in 1997. June was well known and well loved by everyone else who worked with her at the Port of New Orleans. In her down time, she loved to crochet, knit, and do needlework, and she would always go above and beyond for any celebrations with her family; her grandchildren meant the world to her, and she always made sure to light up their day with special gifts. June also loved travelling and going on cruises with her late husband, William Joseph Newsham. June is survived by her loving daughter, Eileen Newsham Angelico (husband, Terry), her beloved grandchildren, Jeffery Angelico (wife, Heather) and Julie Clement (husband, Casey), her great-grandchildren, Cody, Luke, and Jason, her brother, Robert Martin (wife, the late Adele), and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph Newsham, and her parents, Edward F. Martin and Ellen “Nellie” Reiss Martin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA 70001, on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:30 AM. Interment will be private at a later date.
