Judy Ann Bourgeois Bruzeau passed into eternal life on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the age of 54, after a courageous battle with gall bladder cancer. She left this world peacefully with her family by her bedside. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Willie J. Bourgeois Sr. and Lulamae Thoele Bourgeois. She is survived by her son Noah Ryan Bruzeau. Those left to cherish her memory are her sister Tammy Bourgeois Breaux (Paul) and her brother Willie J. Bourgeois, Jr. (Susan), her Godmother, Marie Meinke Hoover (Richard) and cousin Shannon Meinke Forbes (Eddie). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Amanda Breaux Creel (Tye), Melissa Breaux Morales (Chris), Rebecca Breaux Patrick (Chris), Brandy Acosta Toups (Lance), Crystal Acosta Lister (Chris), Sarah Fornea, Hannah Forbes and Austin Forbes, and many great-nieces and great-nephews, Emma, Aubreigh, Eli, Gabriel, Bryce, Ethan, and Chase. Judy was born in New Orleans and lived most of her life in Bucktown. She graduated from St. Louis King of France Elementary School and then Grace King High School in 1981. She was the founder and owner of Pet Palace Salon for over 30 years. Her dear friend Jill Stier took over Pet Palace when she was too sick to continue. Her giving nature and compassion for four-legged friends will live on through Pet Palace Salon. Judy worked with Schnauzer Rescue of Louisiana for many years. She served as President of the Bucktown Civic Association, and was one of the main organizers for The Bucktown Bash for the last two years. Judy loved the city of New Orleans, Mardi Gras, country music, and animals; she never met a stranger. Judy lived her life with honesty, a loyal heart, and generous spirit. Judy’s pride and joy was her son, Noah. We should all strive to carry on her example of selflessness and courage. “Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will land in the stars.” Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 309 Manson Avenue, Metairie, LA on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM. Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers masses or donations to the Noah Bruzeau Scholarship Fund set up at Pet Palace.
