Joseph Paul Connolly

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Joseph Paul Connolly on July 13, 2018. Although we grieve the loss of someone we dearly love, we find comfort in the knowledge that he is now complete in the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Roselyn Cherry Connolly, their children, Linda Connolly, Rebecca Connolly, and Patrick Connolly (wife, Jennifer), their grandchildren, Jessica Schellenger (husband, Joshua), Jaxon Connolly, and Dane Connolly, and their great-grandchild, Kyle Schellenger. Joe is also survived by his siblings, Helen Bailey, Patricia Koski, and Paul Connolly, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Paul “Ike” Connolly and Martha Connolly, as well as his siblings, Johnny Connolly and Mary Connolly.

Joe, a proud native of Marquette, MI and long-time resident of New Orleans, LA, served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1965, and later retired from Tribune Broadcasting as Chief TV Broadcast Engineer and Chief Engineer of WGNO ABC 26 and WNOL. He was a member of the National Association of Broadcast Engineers, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Gideons International, and served on the Board of Directors of First Assembly of God Church, Greater New Orleans for more than 20 years.

How we live our life on Earth shapes how we are remembered when we are gone…our legacy. Joe Connolly lived a life that honored his wife and family, his friends, and his God. He was a man of integrity and faith. He was very giving of himself and always willing to lend a helping hand to others or to give to someone in need.

For those that wish to honor his memory, the family requests that in lieu of flowers you “pay it forward” by giving to someone in need, making someone’s day, or simply sharing an unexpected dinner with a neighbor to make them smile (he would often surprise his neighbors with a smoked chicken). This is how he lived his life and what he would have wanted most.
