John Peter Tessitore Jr.

John Peter Tessitore, Jr., age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at his home in Kenner, LA after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in New Orleans, LA on February 20, 1933 to the late John Tessitore, Sr. and the late Mariann Graffeo Tessitore. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores Taravella Tessitore. Father of three children, John Tessitore, III (Kelly), Anna Michel (Dale), and Carolyn Landry. Loving grandfather of Brandy Maldonado, Deborah Tessitore, Rose Marshall (Joey), Tracy Michel, Stephen Michel, Abigail Michel, Joanna Craft (Kyle), Nathan Michel, Hosanna Michel, and Felicien Landry. Great-grandfather of eight great-grandchildren. Brother of Anthony Tessitore, Catherine Murr, and the late Carlo Tessitore. Also survived by many other loving relatives and close friends. John was affectionately known by those who loved him as “Wacka” and “Big John.” He retired from the Jefferson Parish School System after losing his beloved Delores. In his retirement he could always be found at the Fairgrounds or OTB, enjoying the horses and his friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1908 Short St., Kenner, LA 70065 on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 12 Noon.
