John Nelson Nette, 64, passed away on February 26, 2025, in Saint Rose, Louisiana. Born on February 11, 1961, in New Orleans, Louisiana, John lived a life marked by passion, dedication, and deep connections with family and friends.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, John is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 41 years, Desiree Martinez Nette; his children, Joshua Nathan Nette, Mathew Jacob Nette, and Abigail Elizabeth Nette; and his cherished grandson, Aiden Joshua Nette. He was predeceased by his mother, Inez Ojeda Stewart, and his father, Frank Herbert Nette Sr. He also leaves behind his siblings Rosa Maria Arcia Ojeda, Armando Arcia Ojeda, Frank H. Nette Jr., and Phillip R. Nette. His legacy extends to 14 nieces and nephews, 10 great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great-nephew.
John had an undeniable presence that left a lasting impact on those who knew him. His warmth and charisma earned him the admiration of countless friends from near and far. He was a man of many passions-an avid spearfisherman who found solace in the water, a diehard wrestling fan who took immense pride in watching his daughter compete for over two decades, and a history buff with an extraordinary knowledge of World War II. His love for wrestling was deeply personal; as a high school athlete himself, he achieved the honor of being a state champion in the sport. He loved watching Turner Classic Movies in his down time.
A service to honor John's life will be held on March 3, 2025, at Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Destrehan, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass at the church located at 13396 River Road.
John's memory will live on through the love he shared with his family and friends. May those who knew him find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind.
