John Jay Mooney Sr.

John Jay Mooney, Sr. passed away on July 6, 2017 at the age of 62. Jay was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Parish and worked in the hospitality industry. He enjoyed basketball and was a huge fan of Tulane and Saints football, as well as an avid admirer of old cars. His dry sense of humor was a source of much fun and laughter for his wife and sons. Jay is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Debra Orr Mooney, and three sons, Jay Jr. (Ashleigh), Christopher (Mandy), and Daniel (Jamie). He LOVED being “Pips” to his grandchildren Alyssa, Nicholas, and Christopher Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Jan Drury (Charles), his brother-in-law, Joe Orr, many other family members, dear friends, and his two beloved fur babies, Jack and Lacey. Jay was the son of the late John L. and Beverly Mooney. Services will be held at Lakeview Christian Center, 5885 Fleur de Lis Dr., New Orleans, LA on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11 AM.
