John (Johnny) Russell Caballero made his peaceful transition at home on the morning of September 21, 2018 at the age of 59 from chronic COPD. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 23, 1959 to Clare Levy Caballero and the late Ralph “Putsy” Caballero. Johnny graduated from De La Salle High School in 1977 and attended Delgado Community College. While at De La Salle, he earned the title of 2-time State Championship Wrestler and in 2012 was inducted into the De La Salle Sports Hall of Fame. His proudest achievement, though, was raising his three children. His happiest moments were spent with them and his grandson, making everyone around him laugh. His smile will never be forgotten.
He is reunited and surely laughing with his late father "Putsy" and dogs, Bijan and Dondy.
Johnny will be dearly missed by his mother Clare, his three children, Kelli Caballero Doussan, Dusten Caballero and Jenn Caballero, who meant the world to him, and his grandson, River Doussan, who brought so much joy to his life. He is also survived by his six loving siblings, Rickey Caballero (the late Angelle) (fiancé, Angela Ham), Ralph “Cabby” Caballero (Barbara), Danny Caballero (Orlean), Steve Caballero (Connie), Clare Caballero, Audrey Caballero Nuss (George), many nieces and nephews, and his ex-wife and friend, Tami Muro Hodges. He will be greatly missed by his girlfriend Julie Hagar Palestina as well as their furry companions Chlôe, Fifi, Yummy, Mouie & Mollie.
His family will be gathering privately in his honor. Loving memories of Johnny will be carried on by all in our hearts and souls.
