Joe Anna Theriot

June 16, 1967 - August 21, 2025

"On August 21, 2025, surrounded by love at her home in Meraux, Louisiana, Joe Anna Theriot passed from this world at the age of 58.

Born in Fremont, California, to Raymond and Marjorie Schwinn, Joe grew into a woman whose sharp mind and boundless heart shaped everyone around her. She was the beloved wife of Sidney Theriot Jr. and proud mother of Katherine “Katie” and her husband Craig, Charles “Gus”, and Joshua. She also leaves behind her siblings Marjorie, David, and Christy and Sidney’s siblings, Karen, Darlene, and Danny who have been a constant source of love and support to the family.

A chemist by profession, Joe found her greatest contentment in the quieter parts of life. She devoured books like trusted companions, and her home was where she expressed her love most fully, through meals that warmed and through steady encouragement that helped her children find their own paths. Her kitchen table was always a place of laughter and comfort; she made sure no one left with an empty stomach or an unanswered question. She had a lifelong soft spot for cats, never turning away a whiskered friend in need. Her current cohort included Caesar, Tweety, Baby, and Beebo.

She was strong and sometimes intimidating, but those who knew her understood that her sharpness came from a place of care. Joe had a way of cutting through confusion and shining a light for others when they needed it most.

A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church 2320 Paris Rd. Chalmette, LA on September 19, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a celebration of her life to follow at 11:00 am with friends and family. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you honor Joe’s memory in your own way, through enjoying a good book, a donation to a charity of your choice, or an act of kindness to a stranger."
