Jeanette Claire Manning Spiess

Passed away on Wednesday July 19, 2023 at the age of 89 while under hospice care at Old Metairie Gardens II in Metairie, LA.

Jeanette was born on January 15, 1934 to Thomas Dennis Manning and Lydia Chopin Manning, who preceded her to the eternal resting place. Beloved wife of Milton William Spiess for fifty-two years, who predeceased her in 2016. Loving Mother to William Milton Spiess (wife, Mary) and Phyllis Spiess Duncan (husband, Warren). She was also blessed by her two loving sisters, Emily Garland (David) and Sheryl Wise (Larry), along with grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who filled her life with joy.

Jeanette graduated from Metairie High School and entered the business world. She worked for many years at both U.S. Steel Corp. and CNG Producing Co., from which she retired as an Executive Assistant to the President. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed traveling with them to Callaway Gardens, Disney World and Saints football games. At a young age, she was an ardent bowler, and golfer. Later in life she loved to play tennis and have lunch with her dear friends at Bissonet Maned Downs and Chateau Country Club. Jeanette was an ordained Elder at John Calvin Presbyterian Church where she served for many years. She could always be found on Sunday mornings greeting her church family and visitors to morning worship.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at John Calvin Presbyterian Church at 11am on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, 4201 Transcontinental Dr., Metairie, LA. Visitation at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations to John Calvin Presbyterian Church in her name would be appreciated by the family.
