James Joseph Treigle Sr.

Jimmy’s working career began as a Merchant Seaman. When he married, he joined Glassworkers Local # 936 and worked making and repairing Art and Stained Glass. After 23 years in the glass business, Jimmy went to work for the City of Kenner as a Sign Technician. He retired from the City of Kenner in 2007. He served in the Louisiana National Guard - Washington Artillery.

He was a member of New Orleans 1st Seventh Day Adventist Church. He loved to read and study the Bible. He always told his children and grandchildren to “BELIEVE”. He loved to eat popsicles and donuts. He would share them willingly with anyone who wanted one! Jimmy was an avid gardener; he grew fruit trees and received many compliments about how beautiful his lawn was. He loved doing projects around the house, he always had a project going on.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Rogers Perez; father, Weston Treigle; his grandmother, Edna Rodgers who raised him; sister, Sylvia Treigle; and granddaughter, Mia Anne Thiessen.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma Lips Treigle; his sons, James J. Treigle, Jr. and Kevin M. Treigle, Sr. (Susan); his daughter, Jennifer Anne Treigle Thiessen (Matt); and his grandchildren, Jacob Treigle, Logan Thiessen, Harry Treigle, Kevin Treigle, Jr., Avery Thiessen, Kristian Treigle, Leila Thiessen, and Anthony Cordes (Jessica), and two great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Xander Cordes. He is also survived by his sister, Violet Treigle Hamilton. He also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends.

Jimmy was a kind man; anyone who knew Jimmy knew how much he loved Jesus and his family. His family was his joy and he was proud of his children and grandchildren; he would tell anyone who would listen about “the little rascals”. He will see all of them again in heaven.

The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice and his nurse Carmel for the care and compassion they showed Jimmy in his final days. A very special thank you to Tremeka for the love and care she showed him; Jimmy always looked forward to seeing her.

A Celebration of Jimmy’s Life will be held at a later date.
