He is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Metairie.
James is the beloved husband of 58 years to the late Janet L. Schluter. He is survived by his loving sons, James F. Schluter Jr. and Jeffrey C. Schluter; his sisters, Jane Schluter Vicknair and Regina Schluter Mevers; his sisters-in-law, Rebecca L. Ferran and Cindy Liebel; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
He is reunited with his late parents, John J. Schluter Sr. and Lucille Anderson Schluter, and his older brother, John J. Schluter Jr.
James was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Christopher the Martyr Catholic Church in Metairie, LA. James proudly served in the United States Navy where he fulfilled his dream of traveling the world. After decades of commitment and service in his career he retired from Entergy. He also spent his free time volunteering in whatever capacity he could at St. Christopher the Martyr Catholic Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at St. Christopher the Martyr Catholic Church, 309 Manson Ave, Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 AM with Mass to follow at 12:00 PM. A private interment will follow.
