Born on January 24, 1963, James grew up with a deep love for fishing and sports. He spend 46 years in the swimming pool industry and opened his own company in 1985. He was sole owner of Pool-Tech of New Orleans, Inc. and his sons will carry of the legacy. Outside of work Jimmy enjoyed fishing, horse racing, sports, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his sons. He always looked forward to his lazy Sundays filled with football and junk food.
He is survived by Lisa Gares and sons, Logan Gares and Shane Gares. Also, by his two brothers, Steven and David (wife Debbie). Survived by his father David Gares and preceded in death by his mother Jacqueline Olivier.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church in Metairie. Visitation beginning at 10:45 am followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm.
Following the services all are welcome to gather and share memories at Knuckleheads Bar and Grill on Severn in Metairie.
