Helena Lohman Snyder, born February 2, 1920 in Meridian, California to the late George and Mary Rau Lohman, passed away on October 2, 2016 at her home in New Orleans, Louisiana. Helena was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter Douglas Snyder, whom she married on July 13, 1941. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Painter, Leslie Stokes (Harold), and Dorian Burdick (Terry); grandchildren, Douglas Kruse, Joan Hanrahan (Tom), and Sue Ann Stokes; special grandchildren, Lisa Hasten (Larry) and David Stokes (Nancy); great-grandchildren, Tyler Stokes and Anna Stokes; special great-grandchildren, Patrick Stokes (Diana), Gregory Stokes (Samantha), Douglas Stokes (Sarah), Caroline Stokes, Johnny Thomas (Laura), and Shannon Thomas; and special great-great grandchildren Madeleine Stokes, William Stokes, and Josie Thomas. Helena will be remembered for her zest and love of life, enjoying movies, and reading. She was always ready for a party and a good time, and always enjoyed being included with the “birthday lunch bunch.” She especially loved her little Maltese, Sophie. Special thanks to Bebe Maestri for her frequent cards and loving visits, and to Marilyn Evans for her very special and meaningful hospice care. There will be a celebration of Helena’s life announced in the near future. Any remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice.
