Hazel Ann Linden Schmitt

She was born in New Orleans, LA and resided in Terrytown, LA for 60 years. Hazel attended West Jefferson High School ‘60, Loyola University ’61 with a certificate in Dental Hygiene, and Delgado Community College ’88 Honors Graduate, with an Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems and was crowned Ms. Delgado. During her lifetime she enjoyed her time on the softball field and volleyball court, vacations with her family, and being a Terrytown 5th District Volunteer Firefighter. She served as a PTA President and SGA Member. She loved her profession as a Registered Dental Hygienist for 55 years till her retirement in 2016.

Hazel is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Joseph Schmitt Jr. She is the daughter of the late Albert W. Linden and the late Dorothy S. Gaspar Linden. Sister of the late Errol (Myrna), the late John (Erna), and the late Eric Linden. She is survived by her brother Albert Linden (Iris); six children: J. John, Kenneth (Teri), Linden, Marisa Lajaunie (Gerald), Natasha, and Orrin (Keri); twelve grandchildren: Kenneth Jr. (Krystyna), Kaylee Henderson (Kenneth), Kirsty Trahan (Jay), Molli, Taylor (Clayton), Zoey, Tristen, Gerald Jr., Nathaniel, Nicole, Sadie Bellelo (Rhet), and Tristin; six great-grandchildren: Madeline, Oliver, Michael Jr., Makenzie, Estelle, Zander, and Chloe Rae; and several nieces and nephews.

Hazel was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank all of her doctors, the Davita Westbank family, all the Nurses/staff on 3W at West Jefferson Hospital, and Family Home Health for the care and compassion they showed our mother.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 3600 Claire Ave., Gretna, LA 70053 on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00AM. A Celebration of Life Gathering will follow the Mass at Noon at Mel Ott Park Softball Field, 2301 Belle Chasse Hwy., Gretna, LA 70053.
