George Mitchell Seghers Jr.

George Mitchell Seghers, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Metairie on Saturday, March 24, 2018. He was a Vietnam Veteran and a Purple Heart Recipient while serving in the U.S. Army Troop “B” 3rd Sq. – 5th Calvery 1968 – 1971. He retired from US Army Corps of Engineers as a Civil Engineering Technician. He was also an active member with local VFW and American Legion. George was a beloved husband of Christine DiMaggio Seghers for sixteen years. Loving father of Dawn Seghers and Michelle (Eddie) Billiot. Stepfather of Stephanie (Douglas) Ferrante, Aaron (Sheree) Taliancich, and Angela Taliancich. Grandchildren Dante, Felicia, Joseph, Sofia, Katelynn, Madison, Dominic, Addie, & Reid. Son of Shirley Catherine Meyers and the late George M. Seghers, Sr. Brother of Linda (Tommy) Burns, Shirley (Bert) Wax, Carol (Pete) Thomas, and Mary (Carl) Bulot. He was pre-deceased by his sister Faye (Frank) Piediscalzo. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. Memorial Services will be held at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr., Metairie, 70002 on Friday, April 6, 2018. Visitation will be from 10am until 12pm with Mass at Noon. Following the Mass is Cemetery Memorial Service with Military Honors at Metairie Cemetery – All Saints Mausoleum, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, 70124 at 1:30pm. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend services.
