He studied engineering at the University of Cincinnati. David is the loving father of two children, Jeffrey and Katie. He began his career in 1949 manufacturing printing ink for IPI/Inmont (later BASF) in Cincinnati. He was promoted to Branch Manager and was transferred to Indianapolis, Dallas, Mobile and lastly, New Orleans in 1971 where he lived for the rest of his life. He served as a deacon at East Edgewater and Suburban Baptist Churches, and was a member at First Baptist New Orleans, where he volunteered weekly, even in the last week of his life. David was an Eagle Scout and a troop leader. He liked fishing, bowling, and most of all golf. He faithfully watched Lawrence Welk reruns every Saturday. With a gift for music, David played the harmonica, piano and organ and could whistle like a songbird. David had a beautiful voice that graced church choirs. He always kept a joyful song in his heart, ready to share with anyone who needed a smile or their spirits lifted. A memorial service will be at First Baptist New Orleans, 5290 Canal Blvd on Saturday, January 6, 2018, 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s honor to First Baptist New Orleans or to a charity of choice.
