Ethel Marie Winterstein

Ethel Marie Hernandez Chabert Winterstein peacefully entered Eternal Rest on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the age of 87 surrounded by many beloved family members. Beloved wife of the late Woodrow W. Chabert – divorced, and the late Philip D. Winterstein. Mother of Kim Marie Chabert and stepmother of Melissa Winterstein Olsen. In addition to her daughter, Kim, Ethel is survived by her step-daughter Melissa, two step-grandchildren, Daniel and Stacey and three step-great-grandchildren, Colton, Genevieve, Riley and her brother Ronald J. Hernandez plus many beloved nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Eusebe A. Hernandez and the late Hanora Picou Hernandez. Sister of the late Douglas J. Hernandez, Sr. (the late Betty M. Allemand), the late Margaret J. Luts, the late Earl P. Hernandez, Sr. (the late Marlene M. Lindemann) and Ronald J. Hernandez (the late Sandra J. Coulon). Ethel was born on September 27, 1937, in Harvey, LA and was a long-time resident of Harvey, LA.

Ethel graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1957. Ethel loved gardening, doing crafts and spending quality time with her family. Ethel was a self-employed beautician for many years and later worked for Mothe’s Life Insurance Co., until her retirement.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Mass at Mary Help of Christians Church (formerly St. Rosalie Church), 601 Second Ave. Harvey, LA on Saturday, February 22, 2025. visitation from 10 AM until 11:30 AM, Mass at 11:30 AM. Interment will be Private at St. Joseph Cemetery, Thibodeaux, LA, on a later date.
