Emerita Lizarraga went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 30, 2019 at the age of 83, after a long battle with renal disease. Emerita was preceded in death by her father, Everett, and her mother, Felipa. She is survived by her husband Miguel, and her three children, Victor, Vanessa and Raquel; her two brothers, Guillermo and Ruben; and her sister Alicia. She is also survived by grandchildren Steven, Scott, Joshua, Jordan, Sarah, Matthew, Danielle, Lexi, Chantel, and Trey; and great-grandchildren Mason, Malachi, Makenzie, Stella, Nailee, Caleb, Corbin, Caiden, Sofia, Amelia, Josiah, and Adelina, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Emerita was born in Belize City, Belize, Central America. She had a passion for gardening, traveling and music. She attended the University of New Orleans at the age of 70. She also loved to sing, and was a member of the University of New Orleans Chorus. Throughout her life, Emerita was an executive secretary, real estate broker, cosmetologist, certified nursing assistant, among other various occupations. She was known for her infectious smile, and her loving, compassionate and caring spirit. Emerita was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the celebration of Emerita’s life at a memorial service to be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Church of the Abundant Life, 2301 Par 3 Dr., Harvey, LA. Visitation and Fellowship from 10:00-11:30 a.m. followed by the Memorial Service at 11:30.
