He worked 16 years as a New Orleans Police Officer and served 34 years in the United States Army.
He was actively involved in Mary Queen of Peace Church, The Knights of Columbus, The Coast Guard Auxiliary and enjoyed square dancing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph DiGiovanni, mother, Alice Alombro, sister, Camille LeJune, grandson, Jeremiah DiGiovanni, and brother and sister-in-laws, James Bogle, Eugene Bogle, John Bogle, Jacqueline Hurd, and Mary Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia DiGiovanni, sons, Joseph DiGiovanni II (wife, Sharron) and Edward DiGiovanni II, sister-in-laws, Catherine Buras and Agnes Bogle, granddaughters Julia DiGiovanni, and Hannah Brennecke (husband, Nicholas), and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was a wonderful husband and a great dad and grandfather to the entire family. His storytelling was among the best. You could always count on his honesty and hard work ethics. Simply the best friend you could ever want to have.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Tammany Parish Hospital Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Edward in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 1501 W. Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 on March 29, 2025 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m.
