Allen was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of forty-nine years, Candice Kay Noffsinger Bayles. Of all the things Allen was proud of in his life, nothing meant more to him than his marriage to Candice, their love for their family, and the life they built together.
A close second was his service to his country. Allen was incredibly proud to be a United States Marine and Vietnam veteran. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 to 1966, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart, along with several other military honors and decorations. Being a Marine remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.
Allen was also preceded in death by his parents, Edward A. Chapman and Edna “Faun” Winfrey Bayles; his stepfather, Virgil Bayles; and his sisters, Sharon Johnson and Diana Bayles.
He is survived by his children, Monica Plasek (Darin), Brooke Bayles Hemmelder (Wayne), and Roy Chapman “Chap” Bayles (Tiffany); his grandchildren, Amber, Alyssa, Ava, Joseph, and Aiden; his brother, Benjamin Bayles; and many family members and friends who will miss him greatly.

Allen will be laid to rest with Candice at the Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 W. Mount Pleasant Zachary Road, Zachary, Louisiana 70791, on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 10:00 a.m..
Allen was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. His children will miss his dad jokes, his grandchildren will miss his sense of humor and playing chess with him, and they all look forward to the day they will see him again.
