Dorothy "Dot" L. Amedee

Dorothy “Dot” L. Amedee, age 87, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at her home in Terrytown, LA, where she resided for over 55 years. Beloved wife of the late Gerald “Jerry” W. Amedee for 68 years. Loving mother of Tom Amedee (Debera), Jan Estopinal (the late Jim), Gwen Mudge (Anthony), and Ruth Ann Woodward (Lynn). Grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Daughter of the late William Gammel, Jr. and Amanda Gammel. Sister of the late Vesta Johnson, Carl Gammel, Rheuben Gammel, Rosie Sullivan, Dolly Davis, Naomi Ruth Spencer, Elva Spencer, and Josephine Olsen. Also survived by many other loving nieces and nephews. Dot retired from Borden Aicklen Auto Supply after 25 dedicated years as an office manager. Dot was a Life Member and Torch Bearer of Beta Sigma Phi, Preceptor Alpha Beta Chapter. She pledged in 1965 and was an active member until her death, during which time she held many offices and received many accolades, including the Order of the Rose in 1986. Dot was an active member of the Terrytown Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over 30 years. She was a loving mother and a devoted grandmother, and brought joy to all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Dot’s Life at American Legion Post 64, 2301 Belle Chasse Hwy.
