Donald Joseph Hart died on October 20, 2018 at his home in Metairie, LA at the age of 86. Donald was born in New Orleans in 1932. He graduated from St. Aloysius in 1950. In May of 1953 he married Carol Joan Grimader. In 1954 Donald enlisted in the US Navy, stationed in Bethesda, Maryland. He was a Yeoman Class A Cadet and was a tele-typewriter operator. In January 1962 he passed the Certified Public Accountant exam. In May 1963, he received a Bachelor of Commercial Science from Tulane University. He worked in Public Accounting for the past 56 years under the following businesses, Carlos J Grimader CPA, Grimader & Hart CPA’s, and Hart Accounting Firm. Since March 1962, he was a member of the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Celebration Church.
Donald in his earlier days enjoyed playing tennis, wood carving and traveling with Carol. In his later years he enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchild’s activities. He enjoyed bible studies at his home and loved his walk with God.
Donald was the son of Richard A. Hart and Hilda Knoll Hart. He is survived by his two children, Diane (Ronnie) and Daniel (Monique). He is also survived by his sister Hilda Hart Neyrey. He was predeceased in life by his wife Carol Grimader Hart and his son Michael Hart, his brother Richard Hart Jr. and sister Gaynell Hart Abadie. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Heather Shockley, Timothy, Jennifer and Jonathan Hart and a great grandchild Elijah Shockley.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with a service to follow at Celebration Church, located at 2001 Airline Dr. in Metairie. In lieu of flowers, please give to the American Cancer Society.
