He was 64 years young.
Dennis was born on November 1, 1960, in New Orleans, to the late George and June Irwin. He was a devoted and loving husband to Kathy Rando and a caring father to Michael Irwin (Monique) and Matthew Irwin, whom he shared with Elaine. He also cherished his role as a stepfather to Kathy’s children, Danielle (Kevin) and Nick (Debby), and was a step-grandfather to Nicole, Jay, Alyssa, and Nate. Dennis was also the beloved "dog dad" to Susie.
He was the son-in-law of the late Juanita, brother-in-law to Julie (Bob), Lisa (Mike), Sandy, Barbie and an uncle to Jason, Cully, Macy, and great-uncle to Cameron.
Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Robert "Bob" Irwin (Karen), and is survived by his siblings: George Jr. "Rusty" Irwin (Diane) and Debbie Irwin (Arthur). He leaves behind love and memories with nephews Douglas, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Gregory Irwin, Arthur Leiter, Jr., as well as his niece Leigh Irwin, along with numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
Dennis is also survived by his former spouse, Elaine Michel Irwin, as well as his extended family: sister-in-law Pamela, Peggy (Julie), Judy, Darlene (Raymond), Jeanie, brother-in-law Joseph III., and David. He was also an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A native of New Orleans, Dennis grew up in the Gentilly area, where he attended St. Raphael Catholic School and Brother Martin High School. In his prime, Dennis was a great bowler, averaging 200+. He always knew how to have a fun time and always loved listening to his ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’ music. He was a passionate supporter of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tiger Sports. Dennis loved watching Criminal Minds, Law & Order, and Food Network during down times. Also, enjoyed watching horse racing and betting on the horses while enjoying a Miller High Life or Rum and Coke.
Dennis spent many years working for ADM (Archer Daniels Midland) Company, where he focused on managing barge traffic along the Mississippi River, earning the respect of his colleagues alike for his dedication and expertise.
Dennis will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warm heart, sense of humor, and love for life will be remembered by all who had the honor of being part of his journey.
