Debbie, known for her profound strength and resilience, refused to let cancer steal her joy or diminish her passion for life. Never knowing when her time may come, she treated each day as a gift.
Debbie found great happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved cooking, eating good food, gardening, and fishing. In her quiet time, she enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and immersing herself in the beauty of the outdoors. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with loved ones. She cherished her roles as partner, mother, and grandmother, dedicating herself to creating a lasting legacy of boundless love and treasured memories. Even during her most challenging days, Debbie’s focus remained on others. She consistently sought opportunities to bring joy, encouragement, and comfort to everyone around her.
Her remarkable fortitude, love, and selfless nature left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Words cannot fully capture the depth of her impact or the emptiness felt by her absence. She was truly one of a kind.
Debbie was preceded in death by mother, Katherine Sanchez Thomas, father Charles Jerry Thomas, son, Ryan Christopher McIlvane, and grandbaby Wilson.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional doctors, nurses, and care technicians at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana. Their life-saving intervention, unwavering dedication and compassionate care made it possible for Debbie’s family and friends to enjoy her over two decades longer than originally projected; truly a priceless gift.
Celebration of life and scattering ceremony to be determined.
