David was born and raised in the New Orleans area and lived in Harahan, LA, for the past thirty years. He graduated from Bonnabel High School, class of 1975. He received his bachelor’s in Industrial Technology from Southeastern University. He was ranked Chief Warrant Officer II in the National Guard for sixteen and toured in Desert Storm with the 3673rd Maintenance Company. David was the facility and IT manager at Point Eight Power for twenty years. He was then an insurance inspector for the last ten years. Recently retired, David enjoyed serving as Commander and Adjutant of American Legion Post 397. David was a lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church. Additionally, he served as the Commissioner-in-charge for elections for precinct H002.
David will be deeply missed. A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, he shared a love for travel with his wife, creating cherished memories on family vacations. He enjoyed family dinners, cheering on his grandsons at games, and attending concerts, movies, and shows. A car enthusiast, he loved chatting with his son about them. Known for his love of Diet Coke (easy ice!), grape and orange snowballs, and his dogged work ethic, David had a way of saying just the wrong thing, yet it was always endearing because his heart was in the right place.
David's life was forever changed in 2009 when he was blessed by a generous organ donor. This allowed him to see both of his daughters graduate from college and later marry, meet his second grandson, Noah, and attend his first grandson’s high school graduation, along with countless other memories. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to LOPA.org. The family wants to thank Ochsner's transplant team and the staff at the VA Hospital of New Orleans.
A celebration of life will be held at American Legion Post 397 on January 10, 2025, from 7-10 PM. 1225 Hickory Ave Harahan, LA 70123. All are welcome to attend.
