Daniel “Danny” Joseph Kieffer passed peacefully at his home with family by his side on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. He was a quiet, loving, caring husband to his wife Shirley of 65 years. Danny and Shirley have two daughters, Deborah Ann Kieffer (husband, Rick Seltz) and Lori Ann Schwartz (husband, Brett Schwartz). They were blessed with four grandchildren, Emily Richards, J.D. Richards, Kieffer Schwartz and Kyleigh Schwartz. Danny was one of eight children and grew up in New Orleans when times were tough. As told by his brother Al, Danny was the glue that kept the family together. After attending high school, Danny enlisted into the United States Navy at age 17. He soon found himself in World War II and had the privilege of operating the famous Higgins Landing Craft. Danny was a hero in more ways than one, however you would never know it because he was a very humble and personal man. He recently was a guest at the National World War II Museum with his grandson Kieffer Schwartz. That was momentous day for Mr. Danny. Danny most enjoyed being at home and working around the house. He and Shirley lived in the same home for 50 plus years. Danny had a tough battle with cancer, which he won by living to the age of 90. Mr. Daniel Joseph Kieffer will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A private Memorial Service was held on Saturday, April 23, 2016. Arrangements handled by NEPTUNE SOCIETY NEW ORLEANS, 3801 Williams Blvd., Kenner, LA. 504-464-3095.
